Aeon is the biggest supermarket chain in Japan. Stores are usually in shopping
mall style so that the building consists of several floors and they sell
everything from grocery, clothes, to lifestyle goods at affordable prices. The
premises often have some chain restaurants so you would get everything you
need if you live near Aeon. Its private brand is Top Value.

Another big one is the Ito Yokado. I personally use it often and my nearest one in Tokyo has grocery, drug store, food court, cloth and lifestyle items, book store, electric appliances store and 100 yen shop in the building. The food quality is good. This group of the company holds Seven-Eleven, so they have their prepaid card that can be used in common. You get 1 point for every 200 yen spent when you pay with the card.

Seiyu is under the World's big chain Wallmart group, so the store design
concept looks alike to Wallmart's. So they have a variety of snacks from the
world. Although they have an "Everyday low price" strategy, I would say the
price is just okay.
Their private brand「みなさまのお墨付き」offers the products that received 80%
popularity at consumer tests.

I personally always love shopping at this store because its atmosphere is like
a cool import grocery store, while they offer a great quality of food at an
affordable price. It is also fun to explore the world’s spice and seasoning.
Life Natural is its private brand that offers safe and healthy organic food.

Maruetsu has a high quality of produce. They are also distinctive with its
plenty variety of delis that won't make you bored for long time.
